< 人の家なりける菊の花を移し植ゑたりけるとよめる >
咲きそめし 宿(ﾔﾄﾞ)しかはれば 菊の花 色さへにこそ 移ろひにけれ

< Composed when a chrysanthemum at someone’s house was transplanted. >
A chrysanthemum flower,
I transplanted from the house it first bloomed,
To my house to enjoy and look after.
Yet the color of it seems also to have changed.
How ephemeral a life can be, I lamented.

< 人の家にあった菊の花を移して植えた時に詠んだ歌 >
初めに咲いていた家から宿が変わると、菊の花の色すら移ろってしまったようだ。
(Appreciation)
I transplanted a chrysanthemum flower from the house it first bloomed to my house to enjoy and look after. It appears even the color of it might also have changed. How fleeting a life can be.
