吉野川 岸の山吹 ふく風に そこのかげさへ 移ろひにけり

Japanese roses,
So fleeting and transitory,
At Yoshinogawa river banks,
Even the shadows reflected simultaneously,
At the bottom of the river scatter away.

< 吉野川のほとりに山吹が咲いていたのを詠んだ歌 >
吉野川の岸の山吹は、吹く風に、その川底に映った影さへ移り変り、散ってしまった。
(Appreciation)
Japanese roses blossomed at the banks of Yoshinogawa river are so fleeting and ephemeral that even the shadows reflected on the bottom of the river scatter away.
